ABOUT BYTES UNLIMITED

About Anthony Affee — Hudson Valley NY MSP

Bytes Unlimited is owner-operated by Anthony Affee — a Linux Systems Engineer and SANS-certified security practitioner serving small and medium businesses from Hudson Valley, NY to clients nationwide.

Meet Anthony Affee

Bytes Unlimited has been delivering managed IT and cybersecurity services since 2012. As a Linux Systems Engineer by trade, Anthony built the firm around the principle that small and medium businesses deserve the same security posture and operational maturity as the enterprises he's spent his career supporting.

What started as side work helping local Hudson Valley businesses keep their servers running has grown into a full-service MSP — covering managed IT, cloud architecture on AWS, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 deployments, SonicWall and Duo MFA rollouts, WordPress hosting, and PCI DSS / HIPAA compliance work.

Anthony lives in Wallkill, NY and serves clients across the Hudson Valley in person, with remote support extended to small businesses nationwide.

How We Work

Four principles guide every engagement — from a one-off WordPress hardening to a multi-year managed IT contract.

  • Security-First

Every recommendation starts from a threat model. PCI DSS, HIPAA, and SANS-aligned controls are baked into the work — not bolted on after.

  • Owner-Operated

You work directly with Anthony — not a rotating ticket queue. Senior expertise on every engagement, with no junior tier handoff.

  • Plain English

Risks, trade-offs, and costs explained without jargon. You get the "why" behind every decision so you can make informed calls.

  • Right-Sized

Enterprise-grade tools delivered at SMB-friendly pricing through Google, Microsoft, and SonicWall partner programs — no oversold contracts.

Hudson Valley Roots, Nationwide Reach

Bytes Unlimited is headquartered in Wallkill, NY, in the heart of the Hudson Valley. We provide in-person support across Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, and surrounding counties — from on-site network buildouts to hands-on hardware refreshes.

For clients outside the region, the same managed IT, cloud, and cybersecurity services are delivered remotely. Cloud-first architecture, secure remote access via Duo and SonicWall CSE, and SaaS-based monitoring make distance irrelevant for most engagements.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

How long has Anthony been doing IT work?

Bytes Unlimited has been delivering managed IT services since 2012, with years of professional IT experience before that. Anthony is also active in enterprise security work in his day job, which keeps the firm continuously exposed to enterprise-grade controls that get translated down for SMB clients.

What certifications does Anthony hold?

SANS Security Awareness Professional (SSAP), GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC), and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CCP). All three are independently verifiable on Credly — links are on this page under each credential card.

Why was Bytes Unlimited founded?

To bring enterprise-grade security and operational maturity to small and medium businesses at SMB pricing. Most SMBs are stuck between "no IT" and an overpriced cookie-cutter MSP — Bytes Unlimited is the middle path: senior engineering, partner-level access to Google, Microsoft, and SonicWall pricing, and a security-first posture without the enterprise overhead.

Is Anthony hands-on with every engagement?

Yes. When you contact Bytes Unlimited, Anthony is who you talk to. Engineering decisions, security recommendations, and ongoing support all run through him directly — no junior-tier handoff, no ticket-queue triage.

What technologies does Anthony work with day-to-day?

Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, Amazon Linux), AWS (CloudFormation, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM), Ruby on Rails, GitHub Actions, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, SonicWall NGFW and Cloud Secure Edge, Duo MFA, Bitdefender GravityZone, Cloudflare, and WordPress for hosted sites.

Does Anthony offer fractional security leadership or vCISO work?

Yes. Fractional security leadership engagements are part of what Bytes Unlimited offers, particularly for SMBs that need executive-level security strategy and program oversight but cannot justify a full-time CISO. The scope is shaped around your risk profile, compliance footprint, and growth plans.

Where can I find Anthony outside this site?

LinkedIn is the primary professional channel — Anthony posts regularly on cybersecurity topics, particularly the practical side of running security programs at SMB scale. Links to LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram are in the footer.
